Painted by Shannon Wirrenga (c) 2017
"A young girl finds herself identifying with the sparrow inside the bird cage. The sparrow is watching other sparrows outside its window longing to have the same freedom. The sparrow . . . . an unusual bird to be in a cage as in the same manner it is unusual to cage a human . . . . represents the victims of sexual abuse as well as human trafficking, as they too are literal slaves caged into their horrible situation."
About the Artist: Shannon Wirrenga has been an artist for as long as she can remember. Her graphic design degree initially provided a freelance career of hand lettering posters and banners while staying at home with children. She lettered for many organizations and started painting Christian-themed art 20+ years ago. She has continued to focus on Christian themes and sells her creations on multiple platforms. Shannon is also the founder of Artists Celebrating Christ (ACC). ACC is a local non-profit that hosts an annual art show, featuring art from across the nation, all to the glory of Christ. It has been a great joy for her own art to be used by organizations to fundraise for a cause.
